It  is normal to get that message, it's info and not an error or warning and you can turn it off in EScribe if you want.  You said "and it barely hits" do you mean that you are getting less vapour at this point or something else?

You should get as much as you did before the message came up, the most likely causes are connections issue, seems like the board is getting a different resistance reading after things get warm.  Try checking the connections, make sure the coil loops are slightly spaced and if it continues post some more details and a screen shot of it doing this in Device Monitor.

Mine is doing the same thing, except that it won't fire at all. As soon as I hit the fire button, the message comes up. Eventually it will fire again but it's frustrating. I don't build my own. I buy pre-made coils.

pre-made coils can be hit or miss in terms of TC accuracy/stability. so can be the tanks they screw into. if you're getting the message as soon as you depress the fire button, i would

a)raise your set temp
b)open atomizer analyzer and take note of the resistance while resting (room temp atty). are the ohms jumping wildly?
c)check all connection points (device's 510 threads and pin / atty 510 threads and pin / coil threads)
d)make sure you have the correct material selected for the coil you're using.
e)try a different coil (what tank is this, anyway?)
f)if the resistance is a lot lower (in atty analyzer) than what's rated on the coil, you have a short, tank related.
g)coil hot spots and a very low (false) base resistance will immediately trigger "temp protect" message.
