I have not had time to download or try it yet.  As long as it is on the main download thread.  I should be able to try it on Tuesday.  I will post here when I have tried it.

I downloaded what was linked on this thread: http://evolvapor.forumchitchat.com/post/escribe-software-download-and-tutorial-7488045?&trail=15

Unfortunately it does the same thing.  The screen pops up and then the little windows cirlcle sits and spins.

I am hoping that this is the same version and does not have the time out.  Keep in mind -- I do have connection.  The proxies are just not allowing the two way.  I am not sure if that matters with how you have it coded.

But still no worky at this time.

Out of curiosity what happens if you disconnect, so that you don't have any connection at all? When my laptop lacks WiFi it works.

It is either a software compatibility issue with software I have on the system or a hardware conflict with system.  I have gotten the program to work on an old xp Desktop.  I can't get the board to communicate with that system, but the software does not sit and spin.  I can actually click and do all the drop down menus.

So with my win 8.1 laptop -- it is probably a software compatibility issue with something I have installed.  That is what I am leaning to.

XP should work, as long as you have Service Pack 3 installed.
Do you have any software that hooks into the operating system (say, antivirus) that is rarer?

Good ol Symantec Enterprise Endpoint Protection.  Version 12.1.5  -- and no I am not using the firewall portion of it.  I also put the exception in for the DS service that Escribe uses.

I'm having a similar issue.  I get the "sit and spin" thing indefinitely with no device plugged in, when I plug in a DNA200, after it downloads the settings the software pretty much locks up and becomes unresponsive.  At this point, none of the buttons respond when clicked and I can't even close the program without going into task manager to kill it.  I'm running Windows 7 SP1 x64 and I've tried disabling all firewalls and antivirus and disconnecting from my wifi.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Escribe, and I've tried running it in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3.  Anyone else having this problem?

Im having the same problem as above. Same setup also Win 7 64 bit SP1.

The only way Ive barely been able to use it is hit CTRL/ALT/DEL, cancel that, then it will work for a few seconds and lock up again. The process can be repeated.

I haven't complained because I thought it was just me and I set Escribe up on a Win7 32bit machine that works flawless.

What brand of Computer is it and/or what type of usb controller do you have?  I think I know why mine will not work and I just want to verify what you have before I make that assumption.

For those having issues on Win 7 machines and above have you tried to run eScribe in "XP Compatibility Mode?" (short cut properties > Compatibility > "Run this program in compatibility mode for:").

I would also advise while you're in there click the checkbox for "Run this program as an administrator".

I know I tried everything I could think to get it to run.  I really think it is the brand of usb controller on the computer that is having the issue.  That is my sneaking suspicion.

Tried in compatibility mode and still same problem.

As far a specs on the computer I built it and it has a
Gigabyte motherboard 890FXA-UD5
64 Gigs RAM
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
AMD Radeon HD 7800
3 Solid State Drives & 4 4TB NAS Drives

I have no other issues with any other programs I use for general computer work or the programs I use for Photo and Video editing.

That board has a NEC usb controller.  My MSI laptop also had a NEC usb controller.  It may have something to do with that.

Hi Feklar,

Could you give links to where to purchase those? If we can find a system that actually has this problem reliably, we can fix it.

Thanks!

Well the NEC usb controller we have came with the hardware on the computers or motherboards we purchased.  His gigabyte board is discontinued and the laptop I have is also a discontinued product.  You might have the best luck purchasing his motherboard model 890FXA-UD5 used online.  They are out of stock on Newegg.com so I am pretty sure they are going to be tough to find any other way.  These boards and controllers were released at the beginning days of usb 3.0.  So the controller is probably not even used now as it was probably found to have compatibility issues.  A lot of the early usb 3.0 controllers did.(they tended not to be backward compatible with all usb 2.0 devices.)

Keep in mind this is still just a guess on my part -- albeit a marginally educated one.
